Break the barrier
A near-monochrome landscape and a graduation cap introduce the first milestone. The ball breaks through a visual barrier: graduation is an achievement, not the end of learning.
01 / 04A tiny ball. A new academic chapter. A minimalist journey inspired by the logic of platform games.
The visual treatment begins with a simple ball representing a student completing a bachelor’s degree. Rather than stopping at the barrier, it leaps through it and begins a new academic journey.
I borrowed the logic of exploration and progression from platform games while keeping the design deliberately minimal. Each jump advances the narrative, and each glowing platform signals another field of study waiting to be discovered.
The transition from monochrome to electric blue marks the beginning of a new academic world.

The ball and horizontal rhythm remain consistent, while the environment, platforms and possibilities evolve with each chapter.

01 / 04The ball moves through a threshold into an electric-blue world with illuminated scientific motifs, making the shift into postgraduate study immediate and unmistakable.
02 / 04The ball travels between illuminated checkpoints and discipline icons. The film presents master’s pathways in medical, health, engineering, technical, management and humanities fields, followed by doctoral options.
03 / 04Discovery becomes concrete information about the academic environment, credentials and study schedule, leading to a direct invitation to apply.
04 / 04Four minimalist boards distill the film’s turning points, pairing directional sketches with frames from the finished animation. The ball, threshold, checkpoint and progression remain the core visual elements.

The first barrier
Four silent Full HD MP4 loops from the original film show the relationship between bounce, timing, sound design and graphic transitions. No visible player controls.
Motion and reaction at the first barrier.

Crossing from monochrome into electric blue.

Syncing the bouncing ball with glowing academic symbols.

Rhythmically revealing the benefits and next steps.

I shaped the script into a continuous visual treatment, from storyboard and illustration to animation, sound effects, rhythm, editing and final direction. The goal was to make academic information feel like places the character discovers rather than unrelated slides.
I treated the ball as the visual protagonist and let the environment, icons and illuminated platforms evolve around it. This helped the viewer follow a student’s journey rather than passively read a static list of programs.
Bounces, barrier impacts and illuminated checkpoints are punctuated by timed sound effects. The edit responds to each movement so that transitions become part of the storytelling rather than breaks between information.
